A common thing we're told by clients is social security will pay for my funeral. And they're right. Social security will pay for the funeral. BUT, they will only pay about $250 for your burial. Don't believe us?!! Here it is from the horses mouth.  Does Social Security pay death benefits? A one-time lump-sum death payment of $255 can be paid to the surviving spouse if he or she was living with the deceased; or, if living apart, was receiving certain Social Security benefits on the deceased’s record.
